So I have mixed feelings about this movie. Some aspects of it I really really enjoyed and some other parts I didn't enjoy. At some points it kind of felt like they took a good heartfelt movie and made it more of a comedy & made me not take some parts of the movie too seriously. Like in the movie when Forrest decides he wants to run across the country and it shows him running through rain and that just wasn't very believable. On the other hand though, I really liked hoe this movie brought awareness to disabilities, autism in specific, and the different things they go through on a day to day basis. Like when he gets on the bus and everyone automatically judges him for the way he looks and not his personality. Well that is everyone except for Jenny. Throughout the movie, besides when they lose touch a couple times, they are best friends and she always liked him just for him. I also thought it was interesting to see how encouraging and kind the mom was to Forrest and always telling him that he's special because everyone else seemed to judge him. I think if his mom didn't raise him that way he would have been a lot worse off, like a lot of kids cases with any type of autism or developmental disability. I also think that Bubba was a very influential person in Forrest's life because they were a lot alike and become best friends. It was very good for Forrest to interact with someone who understood him in more ways than one. At the beginning and end of the movie it shows this feather which is a metaphor for the fact that no matter where life takes Forrest, he will always go with the flow and find happiness like him mother taught him to do. There's a ton of different themes in this movie like you never know what you're capable of until you try, to have good friends, be a good friend, do what you love no matter what, but this movie also has a lot of propaganda in it. Like how he joins the war and keeps chugging along through life and ends up being a huge success. All in all, I thought this movie was just okay. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen but it was no where near good or great and wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but it is a classic.
